After a successful international search, Lumina is happy to announce Thomas Dubois as Head of Unscripted Originals for Amazon Prime Video. He will cover content development for the SVOD platform, developing a pipeline of original unscripted content for the French version of the platform.
Provided by one of the world’s most valuable businesses, Amazon Prime Video is a leading SVOD platform operating globally. Founded in 2006 as LoveFilm Instant, it was acquired by Amazon in 2011 and transformed in Amazon Video in 2014. It provides thousands of films and TV episodes to its subscribers and has cemented itself as a major challenger to Netflix. It’s original content budget is estimated to be up to $6 billion in 2019 (CNBC) as it begins to focus on developing more local content.
Thomas started his TV development career with TF1 and Endemol, where he developed France’s adaptation of Big Brother, Secret Story. He joins Amazon from TF1, where he headed up for non-scripted development for TF1, TMC and TFX channels.
Thomas will be a key individual, leading the French Prime Video office on the development front. He will be heading up Amazon’s commissions within France to deliver its more localised content to its French audiences.
We spoke with Thomas after his announcement was widely reported in the trade press, saying: “I am really pleased to have joined Amazon Studios. I’m really looking forward to bringing the best original content to our audiences across France.”
A big congratulations to Thomas and best of luck. We look forward to watching how his slate develops.
