Keshet International (KI) is one of the world’s leading producers and distributors of quality television and digital content. Established in 2012, KI is headed by CEO Alon Shtruzman and is rapidly expanding its global footprint with offices across the world including the UK, Israel, US and Hong Kong.
KI is Keshet Media Group’s global distribution and production arm, the Group also encompasses Keshet Broadcasting, the no.1 commercial channel in Israel. Playing to its strengths, as a company with roots in a country which is a true melting pot of many global cultures, KI capitalises on its ability to deliver award-winning content that crosses borders and resonates internationally.
KI’s flagship shows include Prisoners of War, the US adaptation of which, Homeland, has won eight Prime Time Emmys® and five Golden Globes. The format has also been licensed to partners in South Korea, Russia and Turkey. Other highlights in the Keshet portfolio include the espionage thriller False Flag (which was sold in a landmark global deal to Fox International Channels as their first ever foreign language show to air across all 127 countries covered by their worldwide network) and the high octane game show BOOM!, 800 episodes of which have been commissioned worldwide to date.
In December 2012, KI expanded its operations to London establishing the independent production company Keshet UK. Keshet UK develops, produces and co-produces premium, original scripted and non-scripted programming for the UK and international market, as well as making local versions of Keshet’s formats. Its strong relationships with local British talent, key broadcasters and the independent production community have seen it go from strength to strength.
Its first UK co-production, The A Word, aired on BBC One this Spring and was a standout success both in terms of ratings and critical acclaim. The series, which was based on the Israeli series Yellow Peppers, created by Keren Margalit, was co-produced with Fifty Fathoms and written by BAFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee Peter Bowker (Marvellous, Blackpool), and was also the subject of glowing reviews.
Keshet UK is also working on a co-production with Hillbilly Television of the Israeli comedy-drama Loaded, for Channel 4. Created by Muli Segev and Assaf Harel, It centres around four major characters who have just sold their start-up videogame company for a clean £246 million. Overnight, the four life-long friends and business partners become multi-millionaires and must transform from “people who play games” to “serious players in the game”.
Keshet UK also developed and produced the original workplace dating show When Do You Get Off? for ITVBe and currently has a number of non-scripted projects in production and development.
Keshet UK is home to a passionate team of leading industry execs who have played an integral role in the company’s success. The team, led by Managing Director Sammy Nourmand, includes Howard Burch, Head of Drama and former co-developer of the hit BAFTA award-winning BBC One spy series Spooks, and David Williams, Creative Director, Non-Scripted who recently joined the company from BBC Entertainment North. Working closely with the KI teams based in Tel Aviv, LA and Hong Kong, Keshet UK strives to deliver the distinctive Keshet brand of programming which embraces the definition “edgy mainstream” that has become its calling card all over the world.
